Airbrush - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Airbrush - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Airbrush
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The airbrush is a small, highly precise spray gun for applying paint. It was invented in 1879 by Abner Peeler, in Iowa, USA. This first airbrush used a hand-operated compressor, and the inventor patented it 'for the painting of watercolors and other artistic purposes'. However this first device was rather crude and it took a number of years of further development before a practical device was developed, which was marketed by Liberty Walkup. The first modern type airbrush came along in 1893, presented by Thayer and Chandler art materials company at the World Columbian Exposition in Chicago, invented by Charles Burdick. This device looked like a pen and worked in a different manner to Peeler's device, being essentially the same as a modern airbrush. The most modern airbrushes today are ironically manufactured in Japan, one of the most popular brands is Iwata."

Airbrushing is really cool. Imagine being able to use that first airbrush. I'm sure it would have been awesome. Not sure if it was practical, but sure would have been a buzz. Get more info at Airbrush Information

Interesting kind of Airbrush

KitBuilders - The Workings of an Airbrush: "The Workings of an Airbrush
It was brought to my attention that in the last issue I explained how to paint with an airbrush, but I did not really cover how an airbrush works. For this issue I am going to explain the workings of the AZTEK 3000S double action airbrush. I am using this model because it is the type that I use often and am most comfortable with.
The Aztek 3000S is very user friendly for first time airbrush users. It is light, easy to clean and simple to use. First, the body of the brush is streamlined and lightweight. Second, if you purchase the airbrush kit you will get four tips that will take care of high flow, general purpose, fine line, and splatter effect. "

What an interesting style of airbrush. I think the airbrush has progressed through the years. For more info, visit Airbrush Information:

Tips and Tricks

Frankiko Tips and Tricks - Airbrush.com: "To make your own tracing paper out of ordinary white bondpaper, wet it with cooking oil. Get a sponge or piece of cloth, wet the cloth with cooking oil and then apply it on the bondpaper. You will see right away the result. Clean the excess oil with clean cloth and... wahlaa! tarcing paper."

Airbrush Archive

Airbrush Archive: "Airbrush World Magazine was released in September 1982. It was published by Michael Maurice in Portland, Oregon. It contained 28 black and white pages with a color cover and back cover. To my knowledge this is the only issue released. It is very rare to find today. The main article was A Dream of Fair Women by George Fox Mott, President of WOLD Air Brush Co. (WOLD went out of business in the early 80's) This article was about Alberto Vargas. Also featured is an interview with Dave Willardson (art on cover) "

What an airbrush magazine. Pity it is not in circulation today. Airbrush artists, have a look. More information at www.airbrushinformation.com

The Airbrush Journal

The Airbrush Journal: "The Airbrush Journal was first published in January 1891. This is the very first issue and is made available here by Andy Penaluna (andy.penaluna@btinternet.com ) an airbrush historian/illustrator and consulting editor of AA A .
It is uncertain as to how many issues were published and for how long but if you take the time to read this one you will find that the ideas, problems, and concerns of the airbrush industry were then as they are still today!"

Iwata-Medea : Resources : How-To Articles: "Airbrushing for Model Railroaders
By Lee A. Yeager

Airbrushing? The very sound of that word throws many hobbyists into cardiac arrest. I have heard people say 'I could never learn to use an airbrush' or 'An airbrush is too expensive, so I just use spray cans.' Well, I am here to tell you that anyone can use an airbrush and it is not as expensive as one might think. Airbrushes are extremely useful tools and greatly enhance the finish of models."

Airbrushing doesnt have to be that hard! See www.airbrushinformation for more great tips and ideas.

A Free Article for Hobbies: Airbrush Basics

A Free Article for Hobbies: Airbrush Basics: "By: Andre McFayden
The airbrush is one of the best tools for painting a variety of craft and hobby items. When equipped with an air compressor as the air source, it becomes like a never-ending spray can, with the added benefits of control of the air pressure and of the paint amount. An airbrush can be used to paint plastic models, rc airplanes, t-shirts, nails, and many other items.

How does an airbrush work? Like anything that delivers a fine spray of paint or solvent, it uses Bernoullis principle. Air moving at higher velocity has lower pressure. If this air stream happens to be near but above a solvent (e.g. paint), the solvent will be drawn upwards, towards the fast moving air. When it gets to that stream of air, the solvent gets broken up into fine particles, and is blown in the direction of the airstream."

The Future of Automotive Paint is Water?

The Future of Automotive Paint is Water?: "The Future of Automotive Paint is Water?
Water-based paints made by manufactures such as Auto Air Colors are very likely the future of automotive paint technology
By Glen Wilkinson

Auto Air Colors had this display set up in Nashville, TN for Day 4 of the HOT ROD Power Tour 2005.On Day 4 of the HOT ROD Power Tour 2005 we ran across an interesting display tucked in a corner of the massive parking lot at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. Auto Air Colors was putting on a painting exhibition that at first glance might look like just another guy with an airbrush showing off his skills - but it was way more than that because the paint being used was water-based."

Great news on the car front. Wish I could paint as well as that!!! Good airbrush artist.

SEATTLE - Do-it-yourself air-brush tanners are the latest trend in sunless tanning. I bought one of the newest versions called 'Salon Bronze' to put it to the test.
For about $20, you get two canisters of tanning spray and an airbrush applicator. The promise? A natural look -- never orange and no streaking. "

By 3 p.m., she had been doing steady business giving airbrush tattoos in the parking lot of Carlos Hairport. Keith Webster, 8, of Port Huron was her second customer, getting a Batman tattoo. It's been my goal to take you behind the scenes of Sarnia Bayfest. In order to do that, I figure I need to make sure I have the full rock 'n' roll experience so I can pass it along to you, dear reader.

So I've been up front during the shows, mere feet from the subwoofers, which were so loud it almost literally made me throw up. I've hung out with crazy ZZ Top fans. I've talked my way on to one of Staind's tour buses.

But there's one part of the rock 'n' roll experience about which I still was totally inexperienced: tattoos."

The Art of Airbrushing : The Art That Unites All Of Us

Ball court repair to benefit youth: "The airbrushed mural at the Nepperhan Community Center's newly refurbished basketball court shows two African-American men facing off in the spirit of friendly competition.
It's a fitting image for the home of the center's popular 'midnight' basketball program, an effort which began in 1996 and involves more than just a safe place to shoot hoops. Young men receive life-skills workshops, job-readiness training and help furthering their education."

Airbrush murals are a great way to communicate to people. It can also be an inspiration for others. Sometimes a small airbrush mural can be enough to insipire us to push on.

Do you know of any good murals?

Who do you think gets the most "off field action" at the ballpark?

North Jersey Media Group providing local news, sports & classifieds for Northern New Jersey!: "TRENTON - There are Yankee shirts. There are more Thunder caps.
A smattering of Phillies gear is in the crowd too, and nothing about any of the clothing choices at Mercer County Waterfront Park seems particularly notable - until the lady in red stands up. "

Guess who gets the most off field action on the day? Yes, the ol' airbrush artist. It would be great to see how successful she was in terms of dollars. Do you think she could tell us? Hmmm...

There must be an easy way to maintain an Airbrush. Thank you Time Saver!

I'm sure Im not the only one who hates to maintain and clean their airbrushes. (I wish I was still living with my mom...maybe should would have taken care of that too!) Anyway, here is a great post on a blog and some helpful tips. What a saviour!!!

Happy reading,

Roger

Model Citizen : Airbrush Maintenance: "Airbrush Maintenance
This is a short article I've written on what i found to be the hardest part of airbrushing. That is, maintenance and cleaning.
I got through several makes and types of brush before settling with Iwata. They have an excellent reputation amongst the modelling community and it's well founded.
I have three Iwata's at present, but before I get into that, let me just make one comment on protection."

Is it only me, or are airbrush shirts all the rage?

I see you are watching my show: numero dos: "airbrush shirts are underrated. I bought one of those 'git er done' shirts in gatlinburg for my friend britton. britton is from memphis, tn. she is so sweet, and she loved her t-shirt. it has a rebel flag on it. i can't believe she wears it. "

Proudler writes a little about his love of his life...the burbs, and his little brother. Oh yeah, and a little airbrushing.

Cheers,

Roger

Is this how you define " AIRBRUSH"?

Ianardo's Ink zone: "If you don't know what airbrush is, it's paint shooting out of a spray can at high speeds because of the compressor. it is the perfect way to add all diffrent kinds of effects and textures on to all types of matierial ie: t-shirts."

Ianardo, great way to describe airbrushing to those who are not familiar with it. Can you let me have some of you more popular definitions of airbrushing?

Roger
